The Long And Winding Road
The long and winding road that leads to your door,
Will never disappear,
I've seen that road before It always leads me here,
leads me to your door.
The wild and windy night the rain washed away,
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried, but
Still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door
Da, da, da, da--
Information
The lyrics of this song are very similar to those of yesterday. There
is a feeling of loss and dejection throughout the song but there is
also a glimmer of hope with the "The long and winding road that
leads to your door".
Thanks to John Sterling for his explanation. He said:
I believe it refers to the long and winding road of a spiritual journey
to God. It refers to the long and twisting road of a spiritual journey
that has many ups and downs, twists and turns. The sadness comes from
the fact that once one is launched upon that journey it is a very lonely
trip with lots of trials and tribulations. At times you feel that you
are lost on that road and may even contemplate giving up the journey.
But, eventually you pick up the travel once again because you have no
choice and with the hope that you will eventually be led to the door.
